Day 1: I want to live like no one else

I have a dream. I want to be weird. I don’t want to be normal. I want to live like no one else, so later we can live like no one else. I want to be…. free of a mortgage. That’s right. I want to pay off our mortgage in 2011.

I am 34 1/2 years old and it drives me crazy that I have to pay the bank each month for our mortgage. I think of all the things that we could do with that money. I want FREEDOM!!!!! Because we still have a mortgage I have to work. I would much rather stay home and take care of my 6 month old, but that is not a reality in our home. At least not yet.

Over the next 365 days I plan to log the successes and challenges of what it takes to reach this goal. I have been training for this, like individuals who train for a marathon. I have been debt-free, except for the mortgage for 6 or 7 years. I haven’t used a credit card since the fall of 2004. I recently started extreme couponing (more on that later). I have a husband who is on board with the plan. So I think we are ready. Let the marathon begin.

Inspiring! Too many of us have our priorities upside down. I cant wait to learn of your progress.

I think being “weird” is beautiful. The Bible says to owe no one and to stay out of debt, and because of that, Michael & I are trying to achieve that goal ourselves! We’re excited to watch your progression & maybe learn a few things ourselves! May our Lord be with you through this journey and bring you peace, grace, & mercy to your mortgage!
